Picturing Grief: Family, Life, and Longing features works by twenty-seven contemporary artists—including photographs, video, and an artist book—chosen for the way the artists expressed the intense and often invisible process of grieving. Co-curated by Mary-Frances O’Connor, professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, and Rebecca Senf, Center for Creative Photography curator, the exhibition brings together O’Connor’s framing of grieving as a form of learning and Senf’s knowledge of contemporary photography, to create an opportunity for visitors to explore and be moved by grief. Picturing Grief is complemented by a catalogue and offers a reading and reflection space in adjacent galleries.
