Symposium: Asian Photography and Archipelago

Iha Linda, "Design of Okinawa Red Juice," Digital Collage, 2021

When

Where

This symposium is organized by the School of Art in collaboration with the Center for Creative Photography. Exploring diverse photographic practices in East Asia through the lens of the archipelago, the symposium considers island geographies, community histories, and connections across seas. Drawing on Édouard Glissant’s archipelagic thinking, speakers examine how photography captures the movement of people and the traces and memories they leave behind, expanding our understanding of the region beyond national boundaries.

The symposium is generously funded by Vivian Fung and Daniel Cheung.
