Can I get my portfolio reviewed?
We review portfolios on a regular basis, but the current exhibition and acquisition priorities lie with our archive collections, and our schedule is complete through 2020.
We retain the archives of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Garry Winogrand, Harry Callahan, and other great 20th century photographers—over 200 archives in all. The exhibition program is very much geared to the Center's identity as a research center in the history of photography and to sharing these key archives, as well as to presentations of those major photographers whose archives we wish to attract.
If you would like to submit your work for consideration, you may address a packet to the curator's attention (please do not include any original work; visuals in the form of CDs, website addresses, slides, or print-outs are fine). Please be patient in awaiting a response.
Can the Center advise me on the value of a photograph?
As a non-profit entity, the Center for Creative Photography is prohibited from providing appraisals. If you are looking for a monetary evaluation of an object for insurance or other purposes, contact a professional appraiser in your area. Many auction houses, independent galleries, and antiques dealers offer appraisal services. Member associations such as those listed below can also refer you to specialists by region:
