In the interest of the health and welfare of our patrons, staff, faculty, and students, the Center will be closed effective immediately until the end of semester. This includes our galleries as well as our programs, events, and research spaces. We believe this is a responsible and ethical step, and while it is disappointing to cancel events, we look forward to coming together again as a community when the time is right.
Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist David Hume Kennerly has documented momentous events and people including politicians, entertainment figures and a space shuttle liftoff. A pop-up exhibition of 25 of his prints are on display at Main Gate Square and inside the Tucson Marriott University Park hotel.
You will not want to miss the first public screening of the new documentary by Lisa Immordino Vreeland that combines archival documents, contemporary interviews, and historic footage to explore the significance and impact of LIGHT Gallery. The screening will be followed by a print viewing of additional artists who showed with LIGHT, drawn from the CCP collection.
The Center is excited to announce Legacies of LIGHT- a three-day multi-faceted exploration and celebration of the incredible impact that this contemporary fine-art photography gallery has had on the field. The weekend includes tours of the new exhibition and the Center, a day-long symposium exploring LIGHT’s enduring legacies, the debut of the new short documentary about LIGHT, evening receptions, and a brunch celebration of Harold Jones.
Twentieth-century American photographer Ansel Adams famously said that the photographic negative is like a composer’s score, and the print a performance. Drawn from the Ansel Adams Archive, at the Center for Creative Photography, housed in Tucson at the University of Arizona, this exhibition illustrates Adams’s meaning.
