Saturday, June 6, 9:00-10:00 a.m., CCP members are invited to join the University of Arizona Museum of Art’s (UAMA) Member Morning, “Andy Warhol – Time Capsules,” which will focus on the role of Polaroid photography in Warhol’s life and artistic practice.
Andy Warhol was not only a pioneer of the Pop Art movement but also a prolific picture-taker who was rarely without a camera. His photos served as the source material for many of his artworks, as well as documentation of the people, places, and objects in his life. Members will have the opportunity to look at a selection of the numerous Warhol images in the UAMA collection, which offer special insight to the artist’s everyday life from the 1970s up until his death in 1987. Attendees will also learn about the photographic process of the “Warhol camera,” also known as the Polaroid Big Shot.
