Fellowships
Promoting new knowledge about photography, photographic history, and photographic theory.
The 2025-2026 Fellowship application cycle is now open. Applications must be received by 8:00 a.m. (MST Arizona) on January 27, 2025. Applicants will be notified in early March of their application's status.
The CCP Fellowship program particularly encourages applicants who can bring new and critical approaches to the Center's collections. We are happy to review applications for a wide range of interdisciplinary projects and welcome proposals for academic, artistic, or public interest projects. Applicants may review the Center's assessment rubric to better understand the criteria that will be used to inform our selection process in the course of preparing an application.

Josef Breitenbach Research Fellowship
Applications for our current Fellowship cycle are now open. Our application deadline is 8 a.m. (MST Arizona) on January 27, 2025.
Awards up to $5,000 to support research into the art and career of Josef Breitenbach (1896-1984) and as his work and archive relates to other works and archives in the Center's collections.
Todd Walker Research Fellowship

Awards up to $3,500 to support research into the art and career of Todd Walker.
Ansel Adams Research Fellowship

Kenneth J. Botto Research Fellowship
Applications for our current Fellowship cycle are now open. Our application deadline is 8 a.m. (MST Arizona) on January 27, 2025.
Awards up to $2,500 to support research at the Center for Creative Photography by curators, writers, and researchers investigating the life and work of Kenneth J. Botto; researchers investigating photographers working to incorporate set-up, collage, or constructed imagery; or researchers investigating photographers whose work is a critical comment on political, social, and/or art historical issues in society.
Photographic Arts Council - Los Angeles (PAC-LA) Research Fellowship
Applications for our current Fellowship cycle are now open. Our application deadline is 8 a.m. (MST Arizona) on January 27, 2025.
Awards up to $2,500 to support research at the Center for Creative Photography in the history of photography.
Harold Jones and Frances Murray Research Fellowship
The Jones and Murray Fellowship will not be offered in the 2025-2026 Fellowship cycle.
Awards up to $2,500 to encourage research by curators, historians, social scientists, writers, artists, and critics, on photographers whose archives are at the Center.
Adolf Fassbender Travel Fellowship Award
The Fassbender Fellowship will not be offered in the 2025-2026 Fellowship cycle.
Awards up to $2,500 for travel to support research at the Center for Creative Photography in the history of photography.
Gary Metz Research Fellowship
Applications for our current Fellowship cycle are now open. Our application deadline is 8 a.m. (MST Arizona) on January 27, 2025.
Awards up to $2,500 to an individual engaged in researching and writing about photographic theory relating to the imagery and its impact on individuals and societies; and/or our relationship to images and the reasons that drive their creation. This triennial fellowship is next scheduled be offered in 2026.
