1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24, 2019

Join us for the CCP Summer Series, programmed for families of all generations, all definitions, all imaginations. Participate in drop-in photo-art workshops, explore the exhibitions through gallery activities, enjoy film screenings and more!

Where do poems come from? Come explore free writing, revision and collaboration in this accessible and enjoyable poetry writing workshop with bilingual poet Logan Phillips. The session will focus on generating new writing in a positive and supportive environment, inspired and informed by the work of the many amazing writers represented in the “A Portrait of Poetry” exhibit. There will be two writing sessions: 1:00 to 2:15pm and 2:30 to 3:45pm. All ages and experience levels welcome. Folks can stay for both or just come for one.

Logan Phillips is a bilingual poet, performer, educator and DJ based in Tucson, Arizona. Born in Cochise County, Arizona to a family of Irish-Slavic ancestry, Phillips lived in and around Mexico City 2006-2011, where he contributed to organizing and hosting the country's first regular poetry slam series. He has regularly performed in venues across the U.S., Latin America and beyond since 2007, and is author of the full-length book of poems Sonoran Strange (West End Press, 2015). Phillips is currently a MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Arizona.

Family-friendly snacks will be provided, or self-packed snacks are welcome in our public foyer. The CCP Summer Series is free and fantastical, could very well be your favorite summer plans ever, and no preregistration is required.
