A film by director Lisa Immordino Vreeland, produced by CCP

Enjoy a screening of the 2020 documentary film LIGHT: When Photography Was Undiscovered, 1971-1987, produced by the Center for Creative Photography and directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland. Chronicling the founding, creation, and impact of the innovative New York City commercial photography gallery, LIGHT, the hour-long film combines archival documents, contemporary interviews, and historic footage to explore the significance of LIGHT Gallery. The Center for Creative Photography is home to the LIGHT Gallery Archive, and in 2019 produced an exhibition exploring the groundbreaking gallery called The Qualities of LIGHT: The Story of a Pioneering New York City Photography Gallery. In January 2020, the Center hosted a weekend-long symposium about the gallery, the sessions for which are available on the Center's YouTube Channel: search "Legacies of LIGHT Symposium."

About the film director: Immersed in the world of fashion and art for the past 25 years, Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s first book was accompanied by her directorial debut of the documentary by the same name, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel (2012), with a European premiere at the Venice Film Festival and a North American premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. It went on to win the Silver Hugo at the Chicago Film Festival and the fashion category for the Design of the Year Awards at the Design Museum in London. Vreeland’s second film, Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival (2015) and had its European premiere at Art Basel. Her second book, Love, Cecil came out in October 2017 to accompany the film Love, Cecil that premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in 2017. In addition to creating work for collectors, galleries, and museums, she has developed and continues to add content to a short film series called Art of Style, for the digital fashion network.
